“Once I just get my food “right” and my body is xxx size… then I’ll be ok”

“Once I learn how to meditate, go to yoga every morning and do spin 3x week…then I’ll be ok”

“Once I’m a little more spiritual and zen… then I’ll be ok”

“Once I learn Spanish, French, guitar, piano, sewing, permaculture, fermentation, knitting and do headstands.....then I’ll be ok…..”

Any of these sound familiar?

Truth be told, I can relate to every one of the statements above.

You see, for so long, I believed that there was something wrong with me and that the answer to my problems was to just do more or to be more.. I believed that my happiness lay somewhere outside of myself, and that one day I would stumble upon it….. if I just tried harder.

But it was never enough. No matter how much I did. I still didn’t feel good enough.

It’s not that I was miserable. I wasn’t…

But I was uncertain of who I was. I was disconnected from my intuition and I was stuck in a cycle of perfectionism, control, dieting, binging, emotional eating, people pleasing and self help addiction.

Fast forward a few years and I’m pleased to say that my life looks (and more importantly) feels drastically different…

  • I’m free from dieting and eat and move my body intuitively

  • I’ve healed in my relationship with food and my body

  • I no longer think happiness is outside of myself and understand that it’s an inside job

  • I’m connected to my body, my intuition and who it is I actually am (and not who I think I should be)

  • I know what my values are, have strong boundaries and have stopped worrying so much about what other people think…. (mostly anyway) What do you think about that? 😉

Do I do any of the above ‘perfectly?’

No.

But that’s the whole point!

It’s the striving for perfection that’s the problem.

It’s the belief that we’re broken and need ‘fixing’ that’s holding us back...

It’s the belief that there is a ‘somewhere to get to’ that’s creating so much shame and suffering in our lives.

My goal is to support my clients in connecting back to who it is they truly are and not who it is they think they ‘should’ be. I want them to know they’re just as worthy whether they’re eating ice cream or attending a yoga class.

I want them to look after themselves from a place of love and compassion and wrap their arms around their real life, embracing it all; the good, the bad, the beautiful and the challenging.

I want them to know that healing’s not linear and that that’s ok.

And do you know what?

  • I still go to yoga.

  • I still love to look after my body and my health.

  • I still love to reflect, learn and grow.

But, it no longer comes from a place of believing I’m broken and need fixing.

It comes from a place of joy, love and self-care.

As I said, I’m not ‘perfect’ (perfection doesn’t exists).

But I don’t need to be perfect in order to support you.

I just need to be real.

And that way you can be real with me too.
